Why NAVSYS?
Founded in 1986, NAVSYS operates as the vanguard of players focusing on next-generation technologies to advance state-of-the-art positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) for UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) and SATCOM providers. NAVSYS provides specialized products and services to military and commercial customers needing navigation services in GPS-denied areas. To develop solutions, NAVSYS leverages core technologies, innovative engineering approaches and a longstanding technical experience in the PNT domain to provide high-quality technical products and services in hardware design, systems engineering, systems analysis, and software design.
NAVSYS is a leader in the navigation and timing industry, offering innovative, resilient, and globally accessible solutions that meet the needs of military and commercial customers alike.
NAVSYS stands out for several reasons:
Innovative Solutions
NAVSYS has merged modern software defined radio (SDR) technology with key software-based algorithms to enable a service that can provide position, navigation, and time data without necessitating the ownership of satellites or the infrastructure needed to support those satellites that we call PNT as a Service (PNTaaS).
Resilient Positioning and Timing
By offering solutions that do not rely solely on satellite ownership and can operate in GPS-denied environments, NAVSYS provides resilience and reliability in positioning and timing data, crucial for both military and commercial applications.
Military and Commercial Applications
NAVSYS solutions cater to a wide range of applications, including military operations, communications networks, power distribution systems, and financial services, demonstrating our versatility and adaptability to diverse needs.
Partnership and Collaboration
NAVSYS collaborates with SATCOM partners, PNT users and network operators to integrate our solutions seamlessly into existing products and services, showcasing the ability to work collaboratively within the industry to deliver comprehensive solutions.
Alison Brown
Ph.D., CEO
Alison Brown is an internationally acclaimed expert in positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) technologies. She is the chair of the board, president and CEO of the NAVSYS Corporation — a Colorado-based company she founded in 1986, just one year after getting her doctoral degree from UCLA in Mechanics and Aerospace. Under Brown’s leadership, NAVSYS has provided high-quality technical products and services in global positioning systems (GPS) hardware design, systems engineering, systems analysis and software design. Achievements include developing the first GPS cell phone technology (now on display at the Smithsonian) and pioneering the development of the Space Based Augmentation System (SBAS) technology used by the Federal Aviation Administration and international partners to provide augmentation signals to GPS and GNSS systems today.
Under Dr. Brown’s leadership, NAVSYS grew to a multi-million-dollar corporation with a world-class engineering staff with over 100 years of GPS experience. She is a member of the Defense Science Board and has previously served on the AF Science Advisory Board and GPS-3 IRT. She was appointed to the National Academy of Engineering for her contributions to research and development of precision navigation and timing technologies.
